The last Lisp Manual that the FSF published (May 2000, for Emacs 21)
is edition 2.6. Richard Bielawski refers to the electronic version of
the manual distributed alongside Emacs 21.{2,3,4}. That versions says
edition 2.8.

PS A month ago I proposed to delete the edition number from the online
versions of the manual but you voted against it.
