That's not a valid regexp for matching pushd. *Note (emacs)Regexps:: (in the Emacs manual) for the syntax of regexps as they are implemented by Emacs. Basically, Emacs implements a variant of the basic regular expression syntax, which requires a backslash for the grouping construct.
