The font doesn't make a difference -- double spaces help readability
with variable-width fonts too, when they are rendered literally
(presuambly MS word doesn't render them literally).

Educational trends may make a difference in the long run, but I
suspect Emacs is used by more "old timers" than MS-word-using
high-school students...
