rmail, mh-e and gnus read mail, vc and pcl-cvs do version control,
allout and outline do outlining...

I don't use thumbs or tumme very much so I don't have strong feelings about
it.  However, if I did use one extensively, I wouldn't find the existence
of the other unpleasant, I would just ignore it.
