What do you mean with this technical term? Every few days I invoke 'cvs up' and then re-compile GNU Emacs 22.0.50 or 23.0.0 -- are both CVS HEAD Emacsen by this procedure?

?? Then how and in which buffer (and mode) did you make the
list when sorting didn't work?


The sorting fails in *shell* buffers.


BTW, I remember this sorting failed in *shell* already weeks or months ago. I didn't pay attention then and forgot, now I found time to check the failure more carefully.
