Thank you.  I tried it, but it seems that git doesn't work
in *shell* buffer.  When I run that script, this kind of
message is printed repeatedly.

Is the git version different from yours?

So, instead, I'd like to ask you to try "wget" in your
*shell* buffer.  Does't it update progress line correctly?
