Any news on this bug? I still see the problem in a build from 2006/07/19.

    It is surely a bug. Fsit_for should be using
    minibuffer-message-timeout,
    but it just uses 2 for 2 seconds (which you observered).


    In GNU Emacs 22.0.50.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600)
