To make Stefan's suggestion even more specific: the CVS version of each source file is available via the WebCVS interface: http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewcvs/emacs/?root=emacs It will really help if, before submitting a bug report, people who don't have a reasonably recent build would look at the latest CVS version of the offending file, at least in those cases where the problem has a clearly identifiable place in the sources.
