Yes, that mechanism could be used.
In fact, we could use that mechanism whenever a pop-up menu is asked for
on a tty. But we should not do that until after the release.
excellent... I actually wonder if it might be easier to add the abbrev
functionality to ispell-word. that is, have abbrev add the spelling mistake
to the abbrev tables automatically when ispell-word corrects a mistake.
