The offending key sequences are still highlighted, and there is a very
prominent message at the top of the buffer that says "your Emacs has
been customized by changing some of these basic editing commands, so
it doesn't correspond to the tutorial".
I am not sure this as good as the previous behavior, but I agree it is
acceptable, so I will let the issue drop.
