The issue seems to be resolved by now, but since you asked a general
question: The age is relevant because it gives you an idea about 2
important factors to consider:

  . the severity of the bug (or, rather, the lack thereof)

  . how many problems will be caused by changing the old code, since,
    as time passes, more and more application-level code tends to
    expect the extant behavior
