I thought about it on my way home.  I think it ought to be possible to
get it to work, but only for fairly small files.  And I would have to
include a special case.  Ick.

Oh, well.  Maybe my query in comp.unix.misc turns up something
useful.  Hm.  One suggestion was to use awk to do something.  The
suggestion was then made more specific by mentioning `od'.  Well, I
don't know.  Any ideas for a uuencode replacement with awk and od?
