For all mailinglist folders, I would use option_2, since I would

why keep my sent email?
For when it fails to hit the list.
I didn't write delete - I wrote move to the trash!
I believe the general proposition to resolve duplicates would handle
this with more robustness. You keep yours, when you get the list's,
your original is dumped.
When it doesn't arrive at the list within minutes, I can always move
it from the trash to drafts and send it again. Even better, enable to
re-send directly from the trash without needing to move that email.
How often does an email you send to a mailinglist fail to arrive?
Even if it's 1% and you need to go to the trash once a week and re-
send that email, you still have saved 99 manually delete actions of
the delivered mails.
And, it's an option. Feel free not to use it. I would definitely want
that for mailing lists.
