I had a major system crash and lost a lot of information, including how to send an email via my alternative email address. Let me explain my setup. I'm running CE 2.03 on OS 9.2.2. I use it to access my AOL account via dialup. I also have a separate ISP (Mindspring/Earthlink) which I use primary to surf the web and ftp my domain a 3rd company hosts. Once a month I was able to send an e-newsletter via another email address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) I do have a registered domain, but because I offer free email from it I can't use that email address to send mail to the whole newletter list. Anyway, once a month I would go into CE's Preferences file and select "I use PPP to connect to my email accounts", then create new emails and, using the drop down box in CE, select one of my other mail accounts. ( I was able to copy my mail accounts from my "backup Mac" but it's running OS 8.1 and uses Internet Config. In 9.2.2, there's an Internet Control Panel.) Then I would log onto my ISP using Remote Access and TCP-IP. Once in, instead of surfing the web, I would select "connect now" in CE, select the account that had all the new emails in it, and give CE about 45 minutes while it sent all the emails via TCP-IP. For confirmation purposes, I am also on the mailing list, and would get the newsletter from [EMAIL PROTECTED]
To make a long story short, I used to be able to switch over to TCP-IP, and send an email that appeared to from a "false" email account. Before anyone thinks I'm doing SPAM, the newsletter is 100% opt-in. I realize this is pretty convoluted, if anyone wants to talk about this privately, please feel free to drop me a line. I'm looking for some guidance on how to setup CE, Internet Config? (the only copy I actually found on my machine was from Fetch), and/or remote access.
