I've noticed strange things too: - mail volume anormally low during last week or so, but nobody complained and I've had no evidence any message was lost - 3 of my mail accounts have had multiple short (or not) temporary failures during the same period, which is very unusual, and continue to (mac.com, my school's server and, more bizarre, my free.fr account, which always seemed indestructible and almost never showed in the log before even though CE is set to retrieve mail every 2 minutes) - one of these failures froze Emailer upon connecting on the 6400/G3-8.6 at home (but not on my iBook-9.2.2 whose log showed it happened during a server's failure) or maybe my girlfriend restarted without waiting for a time out, I often do And now that I think of it, I recall reading on a french mac daily page that the webmaster was getting a lot of mail "viruses" these days, which were just annoying on his mac, but that he had to uncheck attachments download on his PC because the messages and attachments changed all the time and couldn't be filtered. I wonder if there's a connection. Would it be possible that a virus infected mail servers, not clients, disturbing services and building variable malicious messages right there? Are you absolutely sure they hadn't been there down the list before? A friend of mine took 2 or 3 monthes to respond to some messages that were at the bottom of a list because of the 1945 bug, that's about when I wrote my 1945 script :-) I noticed once that Emailer might lose track of read/unread status and fail to update the folder's name appearance (bold/plain).
