I have not yet made the commitment to go to OS X (of time, learning, and
the bucks to upgrade my HD to about 60GB, based on my current iTunes
usage and future iPhoto and Adobe PhotoElements usage), but figure in a
year, give or take some, that I will.
Based on what I have seen of the OS 9 versions, I expect that when I
switch I will go with PowerMail, for these reasons:
1) Similarity to Emailer's layout, and ease of NOT opening files (by
setting it to two-pane view a la Emailer) unless I want to open them.
2) AppleScriptability (is there such a word?).
3) Not wanting to risk the typical M$ bugs/security gaps, etc. (No
offense to Jud and company, who are great programmers). The closer M$
Windows and Mac versions are to each other, the more likely I consider it
that the Mac version will have similar (if not matching) security
gaps/bugs/flaws in them. For programs designed first of all for the Mac
(and then maybe being ported to Wintel - now that's a pleasing thought!),
there traditionally tends to be less susceptability to virii, etc.
4) Personal preference for supporting shareware authors rather than large
corporate entities (and personal aversion to lining Billy's pockets any
more than I can). :-)
My pair of pennies.
