On or about 7/31/02 3:47 PM Alicia Gordon AKA [EMAIL PROTECTED] eruditely mused the following:
>>>What about the Applescxript updates? Didn't one of them bring that back? >>>Or was this changes in how the OS system parts scriptability? >> >>To the best of my knowledge (which is not saying all that much) it was a >>change in how the OS works, and can no longer be done (at least in >>Emailer). > >I was thinking of testing to see if an older version of Remote Access (or >PPP) would still work in 9.1 and if that might fix the problem. Anyone >know if this wouldn't work? The problem is that older AppleScripts that make a call on the modem through Remote Access don't work in OS 9.x because Apple moved that access from 'Remote Access' during a few versions of the OS. I think it started in 8.1 or 8.5 but anyway they removed the call by 9.x and it is now made in 'Network Scripting Setup'. So the old scripts don't work and need complete rewriting. Last year Mark Johnson successfully rewrote a connect script that I had done some work on before he took over the project and it works well for dialup. I have not used it recently as I am now on DSL but I can send it to you off list. as to the freezing issue, as mentioned, it is likely an extension conflict of some sort. Are you sure you are using the latest versions of all your extensions and Control Panels. I remember there being a Kensington MouseWorks that would not affect anything else I had installed except Emailer.
