And also sometimes the updater will not work correctly if some of the
original files were changes by other installs or modifications.

Here is what I did when I first installed and successfully updated my
Emailer:

First I moved these files out of the Claris Folder in the System Folder:
QuickHelp(TM) 4.0 and Claris Emailer Help.

Then I reinstalled my new copy of Emailer 2.0 at the
root level and not where I normally keep my actual Emailer Folder. When
the installer asks you if you are upgrading from a previous version: say
NO. Do an Easy Install.

Without even running the new program, I ran the updater to 2.0v3 and it
did its job fully.

Then I copied all my old files from the old Emailer Folder and
transferred them to the new Emailer Folder. Basically that means your
Mail and Downloads folder as well as any extras in the "Claris Emailer
Files" folder like Address Book, Destination, Actions, Schedules, SPAM,
etc.

VERY IMPORTANT
DON'T FORGET TO DUMP THE "ObjectSupportLib" file before restarting if you
are using Mac OS 8.0 + unless you want other problems. It is not needed
and causes problems but is installed by some older programs.

There is a shutdown AppleScript that looks for OSL and dumps it.

Then I had a FULLY functioning Emailer 2.0v3 running Mac OS 8.6 (at the
time).

I hope the detail helps someone else even if the method was a bit anal.
I did it this way because the error message I got indicated there was a
problem with the Help file but also the Emailer itself.

Maybe this will help you too.

Cheers

Karl
