What version of Emailer are you running... specifically... as in... did 
you per chance install that AOL y2k hack that was needed back at the turn 
of the century?

The first version of that hack that was released caused exactly what you 
are describing. All encoding methods except AppleSingle and AppleDouble 
caused a type 2 crash. There was a later version of the hack that did NOT 
cause the crash (the problem was, they patched too much code the first 
time, the 2nd version patched only exactly what was needed).

If you installed that hack (or are not sure if you did or not), then I 
recommend doing a fresh install of emailer and swap out your application 
file. You no longer need the hack as AOL fixed the problem on their end 
long ago (AOL had it fixed by about March of 2000), and in fact, unless 
you were collecting an AOL account, you didn't need the hack anyway.
