While I don't qualify as an "expert," I have been using Emailer for a
very long time, and I've been on this list the whole time. Doing a normal
rebuild periodically will keep things "clean" -- it compacts the
database, reclaiming space from deleted messages. If things are working,
I'd say there is nothing to be gained from doing an advanced rebuild.

What I've seen the developers recommend is periodic (depending on usage,
amount of email deleted, etc.) normal rebuilds (e.g., weekly, monthly,
etc.). Only if you're having problems, do the following:

Make a backup copy of the mail database. Then do a normal rebuild. If
that doesn't help, try the advanced rebuild.

I've never seen anyone in the know recommend starting with the advanced
rebuild. I, too, have lost folders (or wound up with unnamed folders) or
folder hierarchy using the advanced rebuild. If you've not had this
happen, you're simply lucky. Don't press your luck.
