That's right Chris. Let me also add that I, on the other hand, always get 
around 51, 000, both from OS X and OS 9. This with my built in Powerbook 
G3 modem. It's a long time since I last used a modem, I have ADSL on my 
main computer, but I guess existing modem scripts can be tweaked if one 
know what one does. Usually, there will be, or at least used to be (been 
a few years for me), such persons hanging around at the Mac 
Network/Internet Usenet groups and also you should be able to find 
specific connect scripts info on your modem on the web. I'd look for 
other places, besides that of the makers too.
