Thanks, Chris. I guess I don't understand what to use when/where and am
probably struggling with two issues. 1) the authorization for connecting
to the msn.com server, and 2) using eMailer.
(I gave up once before trying to get this to work, but when I went to
cancel the free trial DSL account, msn extended it for two months.
Microsoft support simply says that I need an application that does smtp
authorization, and of course are only familiar with OE & Entourage. This
is my last try before canceling again.)
With emailer I've so far failed to gain either send or receive with the
msn account, nor send with the spiritone.com account. (No problems
getting mail from the spiritone account; I revert to dialup for sending.
I've also been trying to use Baton Mail for authorization to connect to
netnews.msn.com with MT-Newswatcher, without success.)
Settings that work for Entourage are
User Name: clincoln123
POP3 Server: pop3.email.msn.com
SMTP Server: macsmtp.email.msn.com
In Baton Mail I've tried combinations of SMTP and POP3 authorizations.
The hosts file is as provided with Baton Mail; no modifications. Perhaps
you or someone can guide me further.
Following are sample logs and the previous email exchange on the subject.
