I know this was just brought up, and everyone seemed to love PowerMail,
or Mail.app.... but I was wondering if anyone knows of an OS X compatible
email app that will allow multiple unique copies of itself to be run at
the same time.

My wife and I share a computer at home, and we constantly lean over one
another's shoulder to do a quick check of email. So I need an OS X email
app that will let you run more than one unique copy of it. Logging out of
OS X and back in as another user like Mail.app requires isn't acceptable.
Neither is multiple "personalities" like Eudora does (because you can
only have one personality running at a time).

What I want is something just like Emailer, something that you can just
duplicate the application, and double click the copy, and find yourself
with a totally unique running copy of the application and all its
supporting files.

The frustrating thing is... Mail.app is SOOOO close. If it could stop
sharing the prefs file, and allow you to actually EDIT where the mailbox
is stored, it could do it. I might be able to find a way around the prefs
file issue... but for some frustrating reason, apple puts a field and
browse button to pick where to store the mailbox... but then has them
disabled. So they just sit there teasing you!

And no, just because I am looking for an OS X email app does NOT mean
that I am leaving Emailer. 1: I still use Emailer at work which will not
be OS X for a LONG time (my primary machine is a PowerMac 6500 so OS X
isn't an option). And 2: I am only looking for alternatives right now, so
I can decide how much effort I really want to spend in dealing with this
unpacking problem. If there is a decent alternative, then I might just
scrap Emailer at home and give up on the problem. Now that I really don't
use AOL anymore, that is an option I can follow.

I would like nothing more than to solve the unpacking problem, but it is
a royal pain to test, and I just don't have the spare time (and if I did,
I think there are some Baton Mail users waiting patiently for me to fix
the attachment bug... which is actually pissing ME off since I found a
workaround that is Emailer compatible and just don't have the time to put
it in) And if I had THAT much time, I would just write a new Carbonized
email client myself (as I laugh myself clean off my chair... although at
least with my approach, it wouldn't be too difficult. I would never write
one from scratch, but rather would write a GUI front end to a unix
terminal app like PINE and let it do all the hard work. And yes, for
those of you thinking of or trying to get others to write an app... that
is a VERY big hint about how you can probably shortcut yourself to a
finished product)
