Anyway, what I'd do would be to download IPNetMonitor and Interachy 5 or 6 from somewhere else, like on the workplace, and then back home first check the TCP/IP panel when dialed up and see if I got a proper IP address there. I'd then, in either case, ping with IPNM (first on the tools menu), the IP adresses of the primary and secondary DNS servers. I'd also try and talk to these with IPNMs NS Lookup to check out whatever domain. This in order to see whether I get answers from the DNS servers at all. If you don't know what Ping and NS lookup means press the "?" button and read an excellent intro to the concept of each protocol. If I do have a proper IP, I'd move on to ping the mail server addresses and if I got answer there I'd use Interarchys stream watcher (you'll have to install and restart I think) to see what the mailserver say to Emailer, when connecting. If I can't talk to the mailserver or if I don't have a proper IPnumber in there, I'd probably use Address scan in IPNM to check my network neighbour hood from say xxx.xxx.xx.0 to xxx.xxx.xx.255. This way I know if I'm getting *any* response from the net at all, which is probably useful to tell the ISP, if problems pursue. Then again, the problems may be quite different.
