>FOLKS, THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST STUBBORN PIGS! Look at their latest brush >off.............makes me furious!!! !@#!@#$!@#$!@#$!@# Time to email bomb >them...................
Again, I don't get it. What are they doing that is not normal for a company or large ISP to do? Ok, they are a little less helpful then they could be... welcome to AT&T... they never really lost the "We ARE the phone company" attitude. >they said: > >Thank you for contacting AT&T Broadband. I apologize for any >inconvenience that you may be experiencing with email. > >If you are retrieving your mail with a third-party application, you will >need to know the AT&T Broadband Internet server addresses > * Outgoing SMTP server should be: mail.attbi.com > * Incoming POP3 server should be: mail.attbi.com > * The Login should be your User Name or your > User Name plus @attbi.com > ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Standard first attack support response. Always verify your connections. Chances are they stop most issues right here because someone mistyped something, or simply had the wrong info. (I can't tell you how many times I get called because someone can't get their PC to turn on... and its because they pulled the plug out of the wall). >The AT&T Broadband customer care specialists are only authorized to >provide support for Microsoft Outlook Express. If you choose to use >another e-mail client, we suggest you to contact the manufacturer of that >particular software. They will be able to provide you with detailed >assistance for their specific products. Again, fairly normal. How many Email clients do you want them to support? They have to draw a line somewhere. Should it be 1, 2, 5, 500? They made the decision to support Outlook Express and only Outlook Express. This is a reasonable decision, being that 95% of the computer market is on Windows and can't get AWAY from Outlook Express... and Outlook Express is free for the Mac as well... so it is just that 2% of extra OS users that are really left out in the cold (and chances are, that 2% isn't going to contact support anyway... Uh, Hi AT&T, I wrote a TCP/IP stack for my Commodore 64 so I can check my email with it... but for some reason my hacked version of Pine won't connect right). The fact is, if you were using a commerically available Email client, you might get it worked out at someone else's expense... but you aren't... so you have to accept the fact that either YOU have to figure it out, or you have to give up Emailer. Or, you could just not do business with AT&T... you always have that right... I won't do business with them, because I decided long ago that they are arrogant dumb asses when they gave me all sorts of trouble with my phone service... and when they were doing it to me, we were talking about a $100,000/yr contract... so if they didn't care about loosing MY business, why on EARTH do you think they care about loosing your $50 a month! -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
