Hi Everybody!

The Emailer-Talk members are still checking in, adding themselves to the
count of list members by sending an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
If you're one of those who hasn't voted, please go ahead & be counted,
even if you otherwise never send messages to the list.

   = = = = = = = = =
The first few hours I saw a lot of responses, and then even more in the
next 2 days. A bunch of people are in digest mode, and responded in the
days after that. Like a popcorn popper that is still (Pop! Pop! pop!)
going, but the pops are slowing down, a few new people are (pop! pop!)
still checking (pop!) in every day... (pop!)

Seems like forever, but it's only been from Jan 27 - 31, for this count
(So Far)

The Emailer-Talk email list member count is (as of today) Ninety Four
(94).

Hooray! Thanks to everybody who was counted, especially the lurkers who
don't post much. It's just nice knowing you all are there. If/when this
number increases, I'll post a revised count.

How this total was arrived at:
Only people who sent an email to"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" were counted.
I set up an email box for [EMAIL PROTECTED] on a mail server I
administer. I added a folder in my Emailer named "Emailer-Count", added
an account with username & password for "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", then
set up up a mail action in Claris Emailer to file any emails with any
recipient of "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" into that folder. I sorted the
folder by "From/To", and visually looked for any duplicate names. The
total count appears at the bottom of the window: "94 in list, 0
selected". Easy with Emailer!

Quite a few people responded with a nice note as well. I've copied some
of them below.

Best wishes,
Dave Nathanson

Count me, I've been here for a couple of years. Don't post much but I
sure have received great info!!
I will continue to resist all other mail programs until I finally break
and can't be fixed.

O.k., here's another one ...

Hello,
em@iler is probably the best piece of software I have ever owned. And
that is over 20 years of personal computing, now. Apple ][ ... 8100 ...
iMac ... em@iler list is probably the best list I have ever
subscribed-to.
Jim

 Thank you!

Add a tic mark for me :-)

Count me in. After giving serious looks to Outlook Express 18 months ago
and Entourage this month, I'm still with Emailer. Thanks for the list.

Thanks for doing this--I think it's interesting,
even if it isn't scientific!

Don't bother reading, I have nothing to say.
No, really, you shouldn't be wasting your time reading this.

I am an Emailer-talk member since about December 1999 when people on this
group helped me find a copy of and migrate to version 2.03 so I wouldn't
have the date problem.

Charter member Emailer user since 1995. I ordered it after a talk given
at my Mac User Group in Kansas City by Guy Kawasaki. It wasn't even
being sold yet, but I waited for it patiently in the mail. I wasn't even
on the internet yet at that time, but decided I had better get going,
having a cool way to collect and sort any email received was a big
initial incentive to purchase emailer. I loved it then and love it now.

Count me in, Dave. (I think the 'Me too' count was off by one, anyway)
Oh, I'm getting the list in digest mode, so pardon the delay...

Using Claris 2.0v3 (and before that, 1.1.3, I think was the first version
I bought through our local university bookstore), MacOS 9.2.2 on my Pismo
(384MB, 10GB).
Jim

Count me as 1. Seriously, I wish to be #1 on the list. :)

Thank you for all of your working with the community of Emailers.
Even though there is a lot of OT for me, since I'm not in the US, I'm
very happy with you "old" knowing guys out there.

Have a nice time, Sebastian (using 2.0.v3 on Quadra 950 with extra
PPC 601 100MHz and System 7.5.5 US. first by 56k modem, now by
cable-modem.)

Still on the list, but have been trying to get Entourage to my liking
:-(. The hand writing is on the wall and the only Classic app. I'm using
is E-mailer. I will never understand why Apple doesn't up date CE, Mail
sucks!

I'm a UK Em@iler fan - I bought 2.0v2 and updated it to 2.0v3 around the
time it was EOLd. It remains my favourite piece of software and I'm
thankful for the generous help given to all by those on Em@iler-Talk. I
note that 2.0v3 has just passed its fifth birthday - Many Happy Returns!
Thanks for doing this count - I shall be interested to hear the total.

Dave,
An Emailer die hard for years here. I've been on the list since Will and
jud frequented it daily, back in the first version beta days.

Now Will and jud participate in another list I'm on; LetterRip Pro. These
guys are great!

I bet you'll be surprised at the participation of your count. I know that
a few years ago, there were several hundred of us subscribed. MOST are
lurkers. I go back and forth...

Count me in as an avid Emailer-talk reader, even though the volume of
spam on my primary (school, not .Mac) account made the migration to
mail.app "a deal I couldn't refuse", so to speak.

about a Shareware program?)

Thanking all who help on this list, I always enjoy it.

Count me in - I did report myself as number 5 to "Emailer Talk,
[EMAIL PROTECTED]" when folks were randomly starting a count - but
I have not responded to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as yet.

Count me in for the tally as number what ever!
I still read all of the Emailer Digests. Been a member of this list
almost from it's beginning. Emailer 2.0v3 still runs flawlessly
on my (old) first generation Powermac and (old) OS 8.1.
When was learning about Emailer, or able to be helpful afterwards, used
to post more frequently before Emailer was EOL'd, also for a while
afterwards. However, have been lurking for the past couple of years.
I notice that quite a few of the "long timers" still post to this list,
some regularly and some occasionally.
Cheers,
Martin

Hi, Dave. I have been an Emailer Talk subscriber since version 1.0. I
don't post much but I have always enjoyed reading the digest version of
the list. Take care.
John

What do you call it when you subscribe and don't even read the messages?
Sub-lurking?
I happened to open a digest at random and saw the call to be counted.

I use e-mailer to grab messages from one particular database discussion
e-mail list because of the Applescript that lets me archive the messages.
I haven't gotten around to learning enough Applescript to rewrite it to
work with Eudora.

By all means, count me... I am here and have been for quite a few years,
what ever has happened to Michelle Handler? (Steiner?) She was our expert
for a
long time having worked on the original at Apple...
or did I get the name wrong?

Hi Dave!
Add one more to the list - reading the digest and a couple of days behind!

Hi Dave,
I generally lurk on this list. Occasionally asking questions. Even more
in- frequently, I occasionally post a response.
Add me to your count. Thanks.

I am here.
But I doubt if your count will be accurate - many will not respond.

Please include this lurker in your count.
Many thanks.
