Hi everyone I've continued to struggle with Emailer problems that defy any soutions. and the story gets more and more bizarre. On my G4 desktop running OS10.2.6 I continue to get multiple emails. It definintely is a problem with the "Temporary Incoming" function. And no matter how many times I trash my "T.I." folder AND delete any D_Store files, the multiples return and return.
The weird part of this is that on weekends I copy my Mail Database to my G3 powerbook also running OS10.2.6, and Emailer ran WITHOUT multiples on the powerbook. Yes, I tried copying the whole Emailer folder from PB to desktop -- the multiples started right up again. (That would point to a conflict under OS 9 but where do I look?) The Powerbook worked fine until this weekend. I started up Sunday morning and got nothing. I did a standard rebuild. The new DB opened and the In Box looked right but every single folder was renamed "orphan." Did an advanced rebuild and rather than 60 emails in my InBox, there were a couple hundred, but the orphan folders hadn't changed. I moved the DB files back over to the desktop and for the hell of it, I tried to do another rebuild on my G4. Then I got the weirdest message of all: "Claris Emailer could not open the required file "Mail Database" because the file was created by a more recent (and incompatible) version of Claris Emailer . . Press OK to quit." I have Emailer 2.0v3. So I tried reinstalling the whole application and when I got to the v3 upgrade, it stopped around file 13 and said there was an error and it could not complete the upgrade, then it completed the upgrade and reported that it had been completed successfully. Then I went back to the powerbook, ran Disk Doctor from the cd, and tried to rebuild the damaged file again on that machine, and I got the same message as above. One possiblity I haven't ruled out -- I have SpamSieve installed. I wrote to the developer if he'd heard any similar problems, he said no. Finally- to merge the old database with the rebuilt to get this weekend's mail, I downloaded and paid for Emailchemy. It didn't work on any of the DB versions--old, new--even after I rebuilt them again. It froze after 287. It doesn't repair Databases, they have to perfect to convert. And there isn't any way to import the converted and merged files back into Emailer. A real disappointment for me.
