I asked a few people to test my hack, a few said they would... one person replied with a result. <sigh>
Well, going with the one person's positive response, and my own testing to the degree that I could, I am going to release this patch to the wild. This patch will cause Emailer to parse the username and pop server starting from the end of the email account field rather than the front. "Who cares" you all are asking? Anyone that needs a full email address as the username, that's who. Notice the growing trend of people needing to do that? And more and more of them can't use some other character to get around it. Well, install this patch, and the problem goes away. That's the good news. Here's the bad news. This patch was made by manually hacking Emailer. Lots of time testing and messing and crashing. It appears to be working and appears to be stable. However, I have no clue what else I might have affected in the process. Maybe nothing, maybe something important. For all I know I broke other parts of Emailer while doing this. So if you want to use this patch, you use it entirely at your own risk. You have been warned. To get the patch, you can download it from my FTP site at <ftp://ftp.mythtech.net/emailer/patch1.sit> This patch was created with the US English, PPC Native Only, 2.0v3 version of Emailer. I don't have a clue if it will work with other versions. Also, as a note, for some odd reason, I can't get the patch to install on my OS 9.1 computer. It works fine in OS X with 9.2.2 in Classic, and works fine in 9.0.4. I don't know if the problem is with my 9.1 computer, or with ResCompare not working with 9.1 (the error is generated by ResCompare).
