I've been dealing with a strange, repeating SPAM that I just can't figure out. Maybe some of you have been receiving it too.
The title is:"Smallest in world, digital camera - so hot!" It's always from ""Natasha" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" It describes a small digital camera and always gives a bogus website to get more information. I can't figure out the following: 1) Why give a non-functional web site? If they were really trying to sell cameras, you can't get one from them. If they want to harvest info on you, they can't do it from the non-existant web site either. 2) What's the purpose of the email in the first place? They always send a minimun of two copies of this email EVERY DAY. Often I'll get as many as SIX a day. When I run it through spamcop it almost always shows up as fresh spam. This means that these guys are going through a *lot* of trouble to find new, unchallenged paths to send this spam (I've been reporting it to spamcop daily for almost a month now.) This is a lot of work sending out untracable spam, multiple times endlessly to the same address (in this case, mine) and I can't figure out what they're getting out of it. Anybody have any ideas? BTW, SpamCop always shows it going through an open relay on the pacbell.net network. Although I've sent them (via spamcop) endless reports on this SPAMMER, they apparently still haven't closed the open relay.
