Doug:

Emailer can't stop from receiving the spam, unless you use another
program like
POPmonitor to delete the stuff before it reaches Emailer. However, a lot
can be done with Emailer's Mail Actions to control, and even delete the
stuff when it comes in.

For example: I recently set up a mail action to run a "Trash Messages
and Attachments" Applescript by VRic that was recently made available to
this list. <http://vric.free fr/mac/Emailer> This puts the attachment(s)
in Finder's trash can, and moves the message(s) to deleted mail folder.
There's also an Applescript "Shred Messages" in Dave Cortright's
Essential Scripts v2. This one moves the enclosure(s) to Finder's trash
can, but totally and permanently shreds the message(s).

BTW: Trash messages and attachments read me says that it should work in
OS 9.2.2, but it works fine with current OS 8.1 also.

Anyway, my mail action is set to look for From is: Microsoft Security,
also go to next line to look for Subject is: "Use this patch immediately
!." I defined this mail action to only run Applescript, choosing Trash
messages and attachments from Emailer's Applescript folder. Shred
Messages script works fine also. Emailer can do up to 20 actions entries
per mail action name, so I added a few other persistant spammers as
action entries to trash immediately action. Found this mail action works
best (performs first), if dragged above (before) other Spam 1 and Spam 2
mail actions have set to file other suspected spam into one SPAM folder.

My reply may seem lengthy for some, so if you need more detailed help
about setting up assorted mail actions, would probably be best to email
me directly to discuss this off list. If more than a few others are
unfamiliar with Emailers mail actions, then it could be a topic of
discussion on this list.

Cheers,
Martin Z
