After suggesting that yesterday I recalled that it occurred to me long
ago, and Chris' post made that clear.

Here's a summary to keep in mind when setting up multiple mixed accounts
to accomodate the various outgoing server/incoming server combinations
that some use when moving between locations and ISPs):

- 1 - Emailer, not the server, remembers what messages were downloaded,
or partially downloaded. It does that on an account basis (the EMAILER
account, NOT the mail server account)

- 2 - so when you set an Emailer account to leave messages on the server
for some time, or partially download big messages, only THAT Emailer
account remembers what to retrieve next time and when to delete the older
ones (if you access that server by other means, those messages will
appear as unread)

- 3 - thus, if multiple Emailer accounts access the same mail server
account, the messages that were already downloaded but left on the
server, or partially downloaded, will be downloaded again by the next
Emailer account

Conclusion: if you use the "partial retrieve" or "leave on server"
features, make sure only one Emailer account accesses that server account
at a time, or you'll get duplicates.
