The point you are missing is, this email list (like many others) is 
archived to a public web site. That means right now EVERYONE that has 
internet access in the ENTIRE WORLD from this date going forward to the 
forseeable future (100+ years maybe more) now knows your name, the 
company you work for, your company address, and your company phone number.

Because you have your name and work info in your sig, you have just given 
me sufficient information to assume your identity, take out a credit card 
in your name, and buy myself a new car at your expense. That is also 
sufficient information to track down where you live, and determine when 
you are and are not home, and break in and rob you blind (or worse... do 
you have attractive teen age daughters or a wife?)

The internet is a VERY scary place, and any personal information you post 
to it should be carefully screened so as not to hand over anything more 
than you need to. It's easy enough for criminals to ruin your life... why 
give them help.
