HI again!
>>I am going to change the Mail Action to use "Trash Message and >>Attachments" and see if that works! >Your assumption above is correct. Though I have Trash attachments script >in Emailer's Applescripts folder I have never used it. It's the Trash >messages and attachments script I use, and that you should use to get the >results you are looking for. I just got a couple of **SPAM** mails with attachments this morning - they were filtered to the Deleted folder properly but, as before, the attachments were not trashed. This is peculiar because the new Mail Action does not specify how to file - that part was activated because it was told to run Trash Messages and Attachments - with the help of the script, the Action did the first part and not the second. > >I recollect reading in Emailer's larger manual, that the order you see in >the MA list window is the order Emailer executes it's mail actions. Also >one can drag a listed named mail action to any position on the list that >works best for them. I had assumed this to be true but since I am filtering so little mail it is hard to figure where to put it. >Unknown is probably the email that generally appears in Emailers In Box >Thats where messages, or spam, with, or without attachments, that >Emailer doesnt know where to filter and file the stuff gets placed. See explanation below! >.Perhaps after setting up your named mail action to run Trash >messages and attachments script per earlier discussion, position it above >your named spam mail actions, but below your "Unknown" named mail action >on the list, and see how that works for you. Just to clarify (it can be so hard to explain things clearly without going on and on!), I have only four Mail Actions - everything that doesn't fall into the following categories goes to my In Box where I am happy to see it: 1-mail from Emailer LIst(action named Emailer - filed in Emailer folder) 2-mail from Clarisworks List (action named Clarisworks - filed in Clarisworks folder) 3-mail from addresses not in my address book (action named Unknown - coloured and filed in Deleted folder). 4-mail labelled Spam by my ISP(action named SPAM - coloured and directed to use the TM&A script). I have put the SPAM action at the end because when it was second from the end, Spam would get processed twice and duplicated - just what I need! So, I am going to specify the "Unknown" Mail Action not to run the action on any mail labelled *Spam*. I'll see if it helps the script move the spam attachments out finally. >Though the Trash attachments is nice, I have an alias of Emailer's >downloads folder in my system's Apple Menu Items folder. I too have separated out my Claris Downloads folder (I call it Attachments to distinguish it from my Browser's Downloads folder)and I have it as one of OS 9's lovely Pop-Up windows on my desktop so it is easy for me to check what is in there. The problem is, .html attachments are all labelled the same with only a number differentiating a legitimate file from some dreadful spam attachment that one does not want to open! And I would prefer not to have to figure out which was which either by laboriously cross-referencing or by opening the spam to see what number its attachment is so that I can find it in my Attachments folder and delete it manually. Which is why I am persisting with this thread!
