Hi Martin and VRic: Finally, I seem to have it working thanks to Martin's precise instructions.
Firstly, just to complicate matters, putting the SPAM action before the Unknown action didn't work at alll - spam ended up in my IN Box for the first time ever. But I did follow your directions, Martin - I trashed my Spam action completely and made a newly named Trash action with criteria specific to two new Spam mails ( #1 - "subject contains 'start'" and #2 - "From contains 'Gabriela'" )and a simple action: run TM&A script. I moved it back to following the "Unknown" action. I then redirected the spams to me. The script operated and the action worked. Then I inserted new criteria steps 1 and 2 - that "from not be in my address book nor any group" and a prioritizing (colourizing) action. I then redirected one spam but forwarded the other- the script worked on the redirect and ignored the forward (which was from someone in my address bokk - me!). Then I renamed it SPAM and substituted the previously used "If Subject contains SPAM", instead of the step #3 and #4 'Gabriela' and 'start' criteria. The script worked again - the redirected mail went to the Deleted folder and the forward went into my In Box. Perfect! Now the odd thing is: that SPAM action is nearly identical to the one that I had previously been using - and which hadn't been working - except for one small difference which may be the clincher: instead of putting ''*SPAM*' into the "subject contains" criteria I simply put the word 'SPAM', without the stars. I have learned how seemingly tiny things might make a difference and also, how important the order of Mail Actions is to their proper functionning - in my case, the SPAM action seems to require being at the end but I will see what happens when it has to filter the SPAM from a selection of other types of mails. (I didn't have an 'Unknown' mail hanging around with which to experiment.) Anyway thank you Martin for taking the time and being so persistent in helping me out with this and thank you VRic for writing the script!!
