In Digest V2004 #32, the person identified as VRic <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> hunted and pecked out the following:
>>24/02/04 Bill Williams : >> >>It's been my experience that 99.9+ percent of those who use Windoze don't >>have the faintest idea of how to change the default settings to make OE >>sent plain text email -- and don't really care that others don't want to > >It's worse than that. A friend of mine studied computing, works in >computing, sincerly wishes to tame Outlook to please me and others, but >after trying a few times he eventually told me he had globally abandonned >any hope of even understanding what was going on under Windows anyway: >even him couldn't set Outlook to reliably stick to plain text in the long >run. LOL!! I guess it isn't wise to mess with what Chairman Bill decrees... We have a friend who swore up and down that his email app (either Outlook or OE, can't remember which) =couldn't= be changed to send plain text or =not= automatically quote back entire messages. When we spent a weekend with them I asked him to show me his email app, poked around in the prefs, and demonstrated to him how to get both changed. About a month later he said his PC "crashed" and the expert at the computer store said he needed to get a new one -- so he got a new Dell and the problem came back... and he couldn't remember what I did... sigh. (I'm pretty sure the older PC was OK with Windoze deleted and reinstalled too, but Chuck was convinced it was too damaged to recover.) -- Selah! BWms -= Claiming that the Macintosh OS is inferior to Windows because most people use Windows is like saying that all other restaurants serve food that is inferior to McDonalds'... assuming you classify McDonalds as a 'restaurant'... =- ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
