The others' suggestions are good ones. I'll add to theirs:
1) Use webmail to look at the POP box and delete the bad message.
2) Use Outlook Express. There's a hidden feature that is helpful in
deleting bad messages and spam.
Setup a POP account
Tools -> Accounts -> New -> POP -> [Setup the account]
Options Tab ->
[x] Allow online access (shows account in folder list)
In the left "Folders" column, you will now see two accounts with the same
name. The lower one is the "online" account. Click on that, and OE will
show you the list of messages sitting in the server POP box. It is not
downloading the OE inbox.
Read them one-by-one. Find the bad message. Close it. Click "delete"
AFTER closing it (not before). Click on another folder outside the
"online" account. Then, click back onto the "online" account. The
messages checked "delete" will then be deleted.
