You already solved it, so you know that reboot fixes it. If you ever get 
the "Items in use" complaint when trying to use a file (or delete it), 
and you can't figure out WHY the item is in use... reboot. It generally 
means it failed to clear itself properly, and rebooting will cure that. 
If the complaint comes back after a reboot, then there may be something 
else going on (try a reboot holding Shift).

BUT, the real reason for my reply... if you still have that GIF, can you 
forward it to me as an attachment? I'd love to poke around in it to see 
what it is doing.

Also, what OS version is this happening with?
