Although I've never had it do the Read status thing, I've also never 
gotten the patch to work for me installing it the way it says. I've 
always had to do the ResEdit hack to get it to work.

That is actually correct. Any "X-" header is an arbitrary header and is 
of no importance (they are used for "extra" stuff, like marking mail 
lists, or adding a spam marker, whatever). The Return Path is the 
important one. That's the one that mail server that care want to be sure 
matches the From address. And that is the only thing Emailer changes.
