Greetings
I reported, earlier, that Mac Mail under 10.2.3 (Jaguar) was not competitive with Emailer.
I've been on Mac Mail under 10.3.3 (Panther) and it is competitive. I've used it about 6 weeks. It's major improvements over 10.2.3

There are several functions in Emailer I prefer including how to add an address to the address book from an incoming email. None are compelling. I prefer Mac Mail.

Running Panther OS 10.3.3 and Claris Emailer 2.0v3 since March. I've used CE with many Mac OSes since 1998.

Things went weird with my CE a few weeks ago: CE quitting when trying to download email, even when I've cleared what I thought were problem messages from the server. I also dumped CE's temp folder, repaired permissions, ran Cocktail, rebuilt the OS 9 desktop, and restarted, again and again.

In the mean time, I still needed to get email, so having set up accounts I usually access via CE in Mail.app many months ago (hadn't enabled them) I proceeded to download my messages. Panther's Mail.app is a change from Jaguar's version - yes, faster, and I have totally fallen in love with the message threading!!!

About the problem I was having - this may or may not be related, but I started having issues, I think, after the early May security update: Internet Explorer and Quicktime Player kept quitting when I tried opening the apps. I deleted their prefs but still had problems. So I repaired permissions from the OS install CD, reinstalled Panther (doing archive and install) and updated via Software Update including the security update. But I still had the IE and QT quit on start issue - I was too busy with this issue to test CE's status!

What I finally figured out is that the problem lay in my user folder, because when logging in as another user the problem went away. So I did the halving of the prefs files (removing half, restarting, checking on problem, etc.) and found issues with com.apple.internetconfig.plist. Deleted this pref and IE came back, QT player came back, and I've had no other problems with CE.

Now I am hooked on Mail.app and fear I won't be returning to CE as my main email app again! But I'd like to stick around and see where CE and its users go in the future.
