I'll throw my vote for Eudora in as well. I use Eudora for ALL my Windows clients (Outlook is banned from my network. I refer to it as "a virus waiting to happen"). We use the Free version and don't really miss any of the "features" available in the full version. The free version even has decen filtering tools so you can "route" your mail to appropriate "mailboxes" (folders in Eudora-speak). The only thing I really miss is the ability to check multiple accounts with a single Eudora installation (a la Emailer!). If your friend wants to use Eudora to check multiple accounts, he will have to do a seperate installation for each account in seperate directories (and then create seperate shortcuts to access each installation of Eudora). It's not pretty. But, if his/her needs are simply checking one e-mail account, Eudora works great (and the price is right!)
