I had enough curiosity to do the telephone "help" thing with AOL the 
other day, after I had been getting this message for at least a few days 
(and not only on my laptop with Emailer, but on my OS X desktop 'puter, 
using the latest version of AOL's software).

Anyway, an oh-so-friendly guy (whose accent made me think of curry) 
assured me all my problems would be "fixed perfectly" if I just changed 
my setup to use one of the new access numbers. I changed phone numbers on 
both computers, and found the same message continuing to present itself 
from time to time.

Incidentally, I also found that some of the new access numbers, when used 
in Emailer, consistently give more discouraging errors, and wouldn't work 
at all with the modified "Connection Files" I have found so helpful.

I'd love to hear from someone who knows, but my guess is that AOL has 
installed some more new servers, and, once again, there's more "distance" 
between Claris Emailer and the world of AOL. Ugh! . . .
