I just found this list through some web searching. I'm running Emailer
1.1v3.

My mail host crashed, and when I was looking for alternatives, I ran into
a problem: The problem is that Claris Emailer only has a single field
titled "Email Account", and the contents of that are
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]". Then, Emailer parses the contents of that
field, connects to pop.domain.com, and identities itself simply as
username. However, a number of the ISPs I have tried now excpect me to
connect to "pop.domain.com" and identify myself as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
I've spent a couple of days looking for alternative Email clients for
MacOS 9, but Mozilla and Netscape are too horrible to believe, and Eudora
isn't much better. I finally found an ISP which doesn't play cutesy
domain games on its POP server, but this does seem to be a trend, so
unless I'm willing to move away from Emailer (which I'm not), it looks
like I'm going to have to try a workaround. I have receieved suggestions
that I try entries of:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]@pop.domain.com
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"@pop.domain.com

but none of those has worked. Presumably, the collected wisdom on this
list has already encountered this issue many times over and got a
solution, so what is it?

I've heard that Emailer 2 is much better, but I was out of the country
while it was available, and it was long gone before I got back home. I
did find a copy of the 30-day trial version, but neither Apple's 2.0v2
nor 2.0v3 updaters would patch it, so I presume it must have been hacked
somehow. In any case, it has even worse date problems than 1.1v3 does
(although that may have been the result of the failed attempts to patch
it) and still has the same problem in connecting to POP servers set up
this way. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that Emailer 2 can do it
but Emailer 1 can't, can somebody tell me how to lay hands on a legal,
working, non-time-limited, date-fixed, patched, copy of Emailer 2? (Or is
there such a thing?)
