Most list servers, anyone can unsubscribe any member, with little to no
way of knowing who did it.

Its a side effect of the fact that most list servers process an
unsubscribe with no confirmation.

There are no moderators for this list, the list mom is MIA, and there is
no way for any member of the list to know anything about the list
subscriptions. So there would be no way for anyone to 'look into' the
issue.

Alas, we just have to hope everyone is on good behaviour. Fortuantly,
this isn't exactly a mission critical list, so worst case if someone IS
unsubscribed, they will just miss a few posts before they realize the
list is quiet. I myself have sent tests to the list when it has been
silent, because I've been automatically unsubscribed a few times in the
past due to message bounces. So now when I get no posts for a few days, I
double check that I am still on the list (and that the list is still up
and running).
