No; they are two different email clients, each with their own strengths 
and weaknesses.

As Charles Watts-Jones noted very apropo that email is such a subjective 
choice. Since you have used Emailer and Mail, the best solution is to see 
for yourself by downloading Thunderbird and using it. 

Then you can make an informed choice.

I'm going to follow my own advice and get Thunderbird myself. It will 
have to be good to give up my heavily-customized Emailer (142 mail 
actions, many with dozens of conditions).
