Chris:

The real answer to this problem was oh-so simple.
It began when I was given a written list of people to
send messages. One of the *email* addresses
on the list contained a single letter error.

I've never tried to send an email with a wrong address
to someone within the same domain. In the case of
a wrong address sent to *another* domain, the message
gets sent, but is rejected and a bounce message comes
back to Emailer In Box via my domain.

The intended recipient and I both use the domain
Astound and since there is no one within
the Astound domain with this (a wrong) address
Emailer wouldn't allow the message to be Sent.
Kinda like taking a letter to the Post Office window
and having the clerk say "We won't accept this letter
for mailing because there's no such address in our town."

If I'd been smart, I'd have looked at the Connection Log.
The log contained a "bounce" message each time I
tried to send to the wrong address. The "bounce"
quoted the wrong address and followed it with "No
such recipient." The Connection Log showed the yellow
Alert symbol for each attempt to Send.

Thanks for your always insightful attempt to assist.

are you cutting and pasting the address in? Or are you typing it from
scratch?

The Alert symbol should change to an Alarm Clock as soon as the first
character is entered. Since yours is staying an Alert, I would think it
is finding something invalid with the first character. The easiest way to
have that happen is if you are cutting and pasting the address in, and
are picking up some invalid invisible character before the address (such
as a line break character).
