Bothered by ethical considerations? This fault seems to be in short supply these days. Rewards come later. I'm still happily mired back in 8.6-land, but the following should work fine in OS 9.x. Instead of putting an alias of Baton Mail in the Startup Items Folder, I created an Applescript (by the low-power user method, "recording") entitled "Open Emailer, iCab, Baton Mail." In FreePPP Setup, I specified "On connect, open 'Open Emailer, iCab, Baton Mail.'" This way Baton Mail does not have to run in the background unless I am connected to the net. When I leave the net to do non-net stuff, I use "Quit All Applications" from "FinderPop." Baton Mail then quits along with Emailer and iCab. This is probably trivial stuff to the non-retards on the list, but pretty amazing at my level. Thanks, Chris!
