Forwarded for another list member because Eskimo.com is blocking yet
another mail server (well, ok, this time it is spamcop doing the
blocking, and eskimo is picking that up).

Just to reitterate to the list, I do not run the list, nor do I know
anything magical about the list, nor can I do anything about list
problems.

Subject: Internet config tampered with

HI:

I have this new computer with OSX with which I am gradually becoming
comfortable but I am still using my laptop for email.

Today, I was doing some OSX related stuff on the Imac and had a related
question to ask someone that involved cutting and pasting info, so I
tried to send it using the copy of Emailer I had on that machine - this
time (and for the _first_ time under similar situations) it would not go
out.

I went to the Classic Internet Control Panel and was told repeatedly:
another application had changed my internet settings. And, my default
outgoing address was entered as a hotpop account I usually only use on
websites. I was not allowed to manually change this back to my magma
account or edit my "set'' at all. The active set was named "Mac OSX" (by
me?)

I cannot even find OSX internet settings, but I did open Mail and went to
its preferences and changed various mac.com settings that I had set up
and never used.

I have noticed that even now, when I try to reconnect with Option/Command
- K, the connection window says Send Mail Using " ".

Any hints as to what is going on? This used to be set up to work!

(Also at one point the (new) computer started to act _very_ weird as soon
as I saved the contents of the email to Simpletext to fileshare with my
OS
9 computer. A single mouse click created multiple highlighting as if I
were holding the shift key down as I clicked, right click didn't work at
all, trying to put anything into the Find box created another Finder, I
could not open the Emailer outgoing message, etc - what the heck was that
all about?)

Tannis
