>Lately, when I start up Emailer and get my daily mail, I get a red >"Connection Log" notice from the "Emailer error reporter" (identified in >the From/To column of the In Box Browser. > >(An excerpt from the log is included further down.) > >This is a fairly recent thing -- maybe a matter of a couple of months. >I've been using Emailer 2.0v3 for years. > >Here's a section of the Connection Log I received today. I've been ignoring them, but now you have made me curious, so I'll have to dig into the next one I get (likely tonight, I seem to get them at night, or first thing in the morning... spammers always seem to come out late at night... damn blood suckers!) Likely, the GIF file is being used to track the email to see who opens them, and thus who is a valid email address. That would explain why they are seemingly random names. Also, because of them automatically changing for each email, the application that is doing it is probably poorly written (a spammer write crappy software? No way!), so it is malforming the gif each time. I'm sure said spammer simply tested it against Outlook on Windows, and gave it the green light... meanwhile, those of us that use non broken software get to suffer thru these error messages. Next one I see, I'll dig a little more into it to see if I'm right or wrong on my guess. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
