It seems that the spam problem is causing more and more ISPs to tighten up what they will and will not allow their SMTP [sending] email servers to do. "Relaying" is one of the current biggy prohibitions, it seems. There are various permutations of "prohibiting relaying" which the ISP might institute. "Relaying" in the broadest sense means using a different smtp server from your own ISP's SMTP server to send email in one or more of the many variations that can be deemed "relaying". The relaying prohibition is also usually linked with requiring smtp authentication.
If you can get a live person with whom to speak (one reason I love my ISP!!), they may be able to tell you if they have made any recent changes to their email servers' settings which could be causing a problem with your formerly all right settings. You may get a clue as to what you now need to do. (My ISP just did this; fortunately, Chris's newly released hack to Emailer solved all the solvable problems!) Also, something may have happened to your settings -- corruption -- of which you are unaware, too. You should probably carefully verify that all are correct. One reason the ISPs have to prevent relaying is that if they get a reputation as an ISP which allows spam to get through regularly, the ISP gets put on one of those spam blacklists which are being kept out there in internet land, which then causes a whole other set of problems for the legitimate users of the ISP and the ISP. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
