I just discovered something that maybe everybody else knows but I thought I'd mention it because it might be useful. I've found that I can get into an Emailer Mail Database using the free text editor "Text Wrangler" from BBEdit. There are some garbage characters but all the text and headers are also there.
CanOpener from Abbott Systems (not free) can also get into the Mail Database and has some very nifty filters for URL's and email addresses, so with one click you can get a list of just the email addresses in your database, for example. In CanOpener, the text of the Mail Database had much less garbage in it, easier to read through. You can do searching in both programs. I found that it was really fast and easy to read up on a topic using CanOpener's search feature rather than doing it within Emailer, because the whole database is all on one page. You don't have to open and close all those windows. The same is true of my Emailer Archive (Dan Crevier's "Emailer Archive Solution" which works well but can be cumbersome if you need to read through a lot of stuff. CanOpener opens one of these archive files just like it does the Mail Database and you can Find... and Find again... for key words quickly and easily. The reason that I have CanOpener around in the first place is because it can get into corrupted files. This has been a lifesaver in the past. So, I'm wondering if indeed it could also get into a corrupted Emailer Mail Database. This wouldn't help you reconstitute your database, but you'd at least be able to get any important information back out that way. --Anna ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
